What I wanted to achieve with owl8

I have made 40% keyboards such as Claw44, bat43, and wings42, but since they have a minimum number of keys, I limited the keymap to what is necessary for serious keystroke work (programming in the author's case). I am.

Although I only use it once in a while, there are some tasks that I would like to do with just one keystroke without using layers, and having a macro pad would be useful for those purposes.

I didn't want it to take up too much space on my desk, so I chose a narrow pitch design similar to the bat43 and wings42.

Additionally, BMP allows wireless connectivity, so you can easily move it anywhere you want without having to worry about cable management.

Like wings42, you can use plates for key switch extensions and rotary encoders.

I use the rotary encoder to adjust the volume and display brightness, and assign key switches such as arrow keys, Enter, Space, BS, and ESC.

Features

It is an 8-key macro pad.
-Normally 8 keys, but 4 keys or 2 rotary encoders can be added using an expansion plate.
Exclusive for Kailh low profile switch (Choc).
・The narrow pitch (17x18mm) is narrower than the 19x19mm spacing of a typical key switch, making it a compact size.
-There is battery space for BLE Micro Pro, so you can achieve wireless by preparing BLE Micro Pro and a battery set.

Changes in v2

・Now compatible with Pro Micro Type-C
The included Pro Micro also becomes Type-C
・As a result of the above response, the dimensions have increased slightly.
The battery size for the BLE Micro Pro has increased
Changed the slide switch for the ・BLE Micro Pro

How to assemble

Since diodes are not used, soldering is relatively easy.
・The key switch socket is not supported (soldering directly to the key switch)
・Chrome or Edge browser is required to write firmware (not available on iOS and Android)

Please check the build guide for details.
